Well, I only made it halfway to my goal last year, and I have a really slow start this year since I've only finished one book. I got a little sidetracked with reading books about autism but I only read parts of each book and didn't finish any of them. While I was sick this week though I read one book my mom gave me, so I guess I'll start my list for 2009.

1. Henderson's Spear by Ronald Wright.
I was a little afraid to read this because my mother gave it to me, and it was a book that was marked down to $3 that she picked up and read. She is an indiscriminate reader, so I wasn't sure what this book was going to be, even though she said it was pretty good. I liked it too, it was a good story and the way it was written made it hard to put down. Each chapter alternates between the main character's letter to her daughter and old journal entries from a relative. It kind of reminds me of soap operas in that once you get interested in the story it switches to another parallel story that gets you interested and then switches back. It was hard to put down. I haven't asked her, but I'd bet my mother skipped to the end at some point before finishing the rest of the book. Some other books by the author were listed in the book, and I am going to try to read some more of his books.
